OPERATIVES - SAFE CIS
The CIS scheme sets out the rules for how payments to subcontractors for construction work must be handled by contractors in the Construction Industry.
CIS is a tax scheme where contractors deduct money (tax) from payments they make to subcontractors and then pass it to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The deductions count as advance payments towards the subcontractor’s tax and National Insurance liabilities.
Working with Aggregate Partners LLP means you will get paid accurately, on time, every time AND safely within the CIS rules and regulations.
Since the new rule changes, the HMRC believes that the majority of Construction workers are working under 'false self-employment' and should in fact be working as employed - PAYE. On the HMRC's website you will find their status checker program to check your individual circumstances, this will tell you, according to HMRC rules, whether you should be working as employed - PAYE or as you currently are self-employed.
Alternatively you can use the status checker program we provide on our website, check NOW, just complete the form to the right and privately and confidentially you can see if you are at risk of being classed as employed - PAYE.
If you do find that you are likely to be deemed by the HMRC as working under 'false self-employment', we can help you and discuss your options. Our advice is free and there is no pressure or commitment to join us, unless you want to of course.
If the HMRC do investigate your employment status and find you are working under false self-employment then they could ask you to pay back tax, unpaid National Insurance contributions and even penalties or fines. It could cost you a small fortune.
